The changing tourism industry: Individual nature-focused travel, city trips or pure luxury are most demanded travel themes
Cologne, 11.11.2020 Bernd Maesse was already convinced in March: „We need to rethink and stimulate the market for upscale individual tourism.“ The demand for hotels and destinations within Germany as well as the neighboring countries like Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands increased sharply this summer. Many people feel safer not to spend their holidays too far away from home. But not everyone is happy with the „Deal of the day“ or the ‚standard arrangements‘ which hotels offer on their websites.
„Many people are looking for something more individual, a holiday experience that you never forget“, mentions Maesse. The service provider, who also is a state-certified hotel business administrator, has 25 years experience in the top hotel industry (e.x. in New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Frankfurt). Therefore, Maesse knows the hotel scene and the best destinations in many countries very well. 15 year ago, he founded Maesse Hospitality GmbH in Cologne. Since then, he successfully marketed meetings, incentives, congresses and events for corporates – until Corona changed his business almost overnight.
Giving up was no solution for the manager and service provider. Instead, Bernd Maesse sat down with his team, developed a new product strategy and created „Maesse Private Solutions“. „We have the know-how, the products, our long-standing hotel partners and our partner agencies, so that we are able to offer individual travel packages. Everything is tailormade and special.“, Maesse explains. Beginning with an overnight stay in the Swiss Bügenstock Resort with a cheese fondue in a secluded mountain hut, which can only be reached by helicopter, to a Harley-Davidson-Tour at Lake Tegernsee, to the Olympic Games in Japan – everything is possible and can be customized together with the client. „We act like a concierge, who realizes the dreams and wishes of the vacationers,“ says Maesse. The team can also handle very small wishes like a dinner in a „Hidden Secret“ restaurant. For people who feel home in the pure nature, there are packages in the „Nature Hideaway“ cluster. Interested travelers can find there among others travel inspirations from the Severin*s Resort & Spa on Sylt, the Cologne agency’s long-standing partner. The „Adventure Trails“ have been developed for adrenaline junkies. Here, for example, a survival tour through the marl caves in the Maastricht region can be booked.
